Thunderbird Rodeo: Breakaway

Whos in the mood for calf roping pics?! ME! This is breakaway roping, which I had a lot of fun shooting even though not many of the images turned out.

For those of you unfamiliar with Breakaway roping its pretty much the first half of tie-down roping. The calf leaves the chute the same, horse and rider follow after the barrier and rope the calf. The difference is after the calf is roped, the rope "breaks away" from the saddle and the calf keeps running. All of the roping and none of the heavy calf lifting I'd like to give it a try someday.
